Visit to the Center of Support for Integration – CAI Villalegre (Avilés)

In March, under the Lifelong Learning Programme Leonardo da Vinci Partnerships, Lawton School welcomed their partners in the European project ICT Bridges from BFI in Austria BFI – www.bfi-stmk.at , CCBN Romania – www.cciabn.ro and the Sunflower Centre, University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic- www.vsb.cz , as well as users of resources for people with disabilities in those countries.


The Director of the Centre, Don Eduardo Pérez Errasti welcomed them to the centre and Asturias. A tour of the centre was conducted by students, in English, and of its star room: the Snoezelen sensory stimulation room.

In the computer room The students made a presentation on their blog and of some of their personal stories using ICT.

Gaura Livia Dana, a teacher at the specialized Vocational Training Centre “Santa Maria” Bistrita, Romania, presented their training program to attend the special educational needs of thier pupils and their employability plan in trades with aesthetics, hospitality and textiles.

Danuse Bauerova, Director of the Sunflower Centre, University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic explained details about the ICT Bridges project which she coordinates, and showed the web where people with disabilities can interact with each other. The Sunflower Centre is part of the University of Ostrava, and supports people in college with disabilities.

On behalf of Steiermark Berufsförderungsinstitut, Austria, Michaela Meier gave atalk on their programs to help blind people in finding work.
