2009 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland’s national poet and icon, Robert Burns. To celebrate, 2009 has been declared Scotland’s “Year of Homecoming” and Robert Burns will be celebrated in more ways than the traditional Burns Supper in January.

Haggis, tatties and neeps
A traditional Scottish meal made from a spiced mutton sausage (haggis), mashed potato (tatties) and turnips (neeps). You have to try it at least once! As well as haggis, Scotland is also famous for delicious smoked fish and seafood.
